We are grateful for our partners and volunteers that provide fantastic support to our students each and every day. Whether its contributions from the community, our alumni or business partners, their efforts are a part of the education and growth of each of our students.
Research supports that individual adult attention is a key contributor to student achievement and overall success in life. We appreciate the many parents, businesses, non-profit organizations, community members, professional organizations, college students, higher education institutions and military groups already involved in the education of our students. Currently, nearly 28,000 volunteers work in a variety of capacities in the San Diego Unified School District.
Volunteers help support education through a wide range of school-related opportunities, including tutoring, mentoring, classroom read alouds, classroom assistance, non-classroom assistance (field trips, media center, site beautification), organization involvement (PTA, school foundation, School Site Council), and before- and after-school programs.
