Sunday Message 8/9/26

Hello, Oak Park Families,

 

Welcome back to school! We are thrilled to welcome our Tempo Tigers back for the 2026–2027 school year. Our dedicated staff has been working tirelessly to prepare for tomorrow, and we are ready for a strong start as we integrate music and media arts into our curriculum!

Here is essential information for our first week:

 

First Day & Arrival

  • Gates Open: 8:45 am. Students will go directly to their classrooms.
  • Teacher Assignments: If you missed Friday’s Meet & Greet, please check the Parent Portal to find your child's teacher.
  • Assistance: Staff members will be on hand Monday morning to help direct students and families to the correct classrooms.

What to Bring

  • Please send your child with a labeled backpack and a labeled water bottle. Please label all personal belongings—including lunchboxes if your child brings lunch from home!
  • Meals: Free breakfast and lunch are provided daily for all students.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes!

Walking Club

  • Starts Tuesday, August 11 (our regular minimum day).
  • All TK–5th grade students and their families are invited to join us on the field before school to walk and get active for learning!

Dismissal Schedule & Minimum Days (12:55 PM Dismissal)

  • TK & Kindergarten: Minimum days ALL WEEK (Dismissal at 12:55 PM every day).
  • Grades 1–5: Minimum days on Tuesday, August 11 and an additional minimum day on Friday, August 14 (Dismissal at 12:55 PM). Regular dismissal on other days.

Office Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Friday

TK - 5th Grade:

9:00 am – 3:35 pm (M, W, TH, F)

9:00 am – 12:55 pm (Minimum day Tuesday)

Preschool/Blended Learning & ECSE Classes:

AM Class 8:45 am – 11:45 pm

PM Class 12:35 pm – 3:35 pm

 Laptop Care and Use at Home. We always recommend that students:

  • Charge the laptop fully each night - it may also be used while plugged in
  • Use the laptop in a common area of the house - avoid using outside
  • Use the laptop on a desk or table - avoid using or leaving it on floors
  • Keep the laptop away from food, liquid, and pets

Oak Park Elementary is a unique and inspiring place for children, where our rich ethnic and cultural diversity is celebrated as a strength. Teachers utilize assessments and data to design a rigorous, standards-based instructional program that is both challenging and engaging, ensuring that all students are motivated to excel. As part of our comprehensive music education, all students receive instruction in band, orchestra, keyboard lab, guitar, and chorus. Our credentialed music teachers offer progressive and enriching learning experiences. Additionally, media arts is integrated into the curriculum, empowering students to become both thoughtful consumers and creative producers of media.

Friendly Reminder Oak Park Families!
Student Safety is our number one priority! Please note that when you are picking your child up from school you need to bring your photo ID. Any person picking up your child needs be on emergency contact list and bring their photo ID.

If you need someone to pick up your child and they are NOT on the contact list, please update Parent Portal at https://powerschool.sandi.net/public/ or email Wendy Ross at [email protected] or Jeniva Duarte at [email protected]with the student name, name of the person picking the student up, and relationship to student. Remind that person to bring their photo ID.
