K-3 Curriculum

Orff Curriculum:The Orff philosophy combines the elements of speech, rhythm, poetry, nursery rhymes, movement, dance, and song. And at the heart of all this is improvisation - the instinct children have to create their own melodies, to explore their imaginations.

To achieve these elements, the K-1-2 students use xylophones, unpitched percussion instruments and the steady beat within their own bodies.

Recorder Curriculum: Using the Ed Sueda recorder method, the third grade students learn to read music by playing exercises, folk and traditional songs. While playing they are also learning beginning music theory.
